What is MSAI?

  • The Medical students association of India (MSAI) is a national member organization of the International Federation of Medical Students Association (IFMSA).
  • The International Federation of Medical Students’ Associations(IFMSA) is a non governmental organization representing associations of medical students. It was founded in May 1951, and currently represents, connects and engages every day with an inspiring and engaging network of 1.3 million medical students from 130 national members’ organizations in 122 countries around the globe.
  • IFMSA is recognised by the World Medical Association, World Health Organization and United Nations as the voice of medical students globally.
  • MSAI is registered under the societies act, is a registered NGO and is a full member of IFMSA.

What do we do?

  • The main activities of IFMSA and MSAI are student exchanges and different clinical projects.

We function through six standing committees, which are:

  • Standing Committee on Medical Education (SCOME)
  • Standing Committee on Professional Exchange (SCOPE)
  • Standing Committee on Research Exchange (SCORE)
  • Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH)
  • Standing Committee on Sexual & Reproductive Health including HIV/AIDS (SCORA)
  • Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace (SCORP)
  • In addition we have various other training programs, global health advocacy meets, professional exchange and research exchanges to medical schools abroad, research projects, internships at WHO, United Nations (UN), World Medical Association (WMA), observerships and various international meets such as General Assemblies, Regional Meets and UN,World Health Assemblies (WHA) of the WHO.
  • We also work for USMLE and NEET training and all our members get free/discounted access to Dr. Been – medical videos and USMLE Coaching.

How can I join MSAI?

  • Any undergraduate/postgraduate medical student can join MSAI by filling the membership form and depositing a fee of Rs.1000 to the official MSAI account through the website under the tab “Registration”.
  • Alternatively , you can also register on : https://www.plexusmd.com/event/msai-reg
  • Drop us a mail in either case with the copy of the transaction slip and form at msai-india@ifmsa.org and msai@gmail.com
  • You will receive a membership card and welcome mail shortly after you have registered.
  • Also you will get all national and international updates regularly on the email id you have provided.

I want to get involved in various projects, how do I go about?

  • You can contact your state/region local officer or state president who will get you in touch with the concerned national officers.
  • Kindly refer to the list of officers in your state to help you out with the process.

Who are our partners?

  • MSAI is proud of its cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders such as Medical Councils, NGOs and youth organizations. By supporting MSAI our institutional partners contribute to develop our activities and projects, to exchange knowledge and experience, and to support medical students in acquiring leadership and skills.
  • Some of our partners include: Dakshama Foundation, Dr.Been, Plexus-MD, Delhi Academy of Medical Sciences(DAMS), etc.

I wish to apply for a post and take responsibility of my region, how do I go about?

  • A new team is elected at the National General Assembly Every Year; however, the officials may open an additional call in case of vacancies/need for local officers.
